The market opened steady at an ad vance of 11 point* on November. 3 points on December, and 1 point on January, but unchanged to 2 points lower on later month*. There seemed to be a little buy* Ing of November by belated short* and December was Influenced by smaller no tices than expected, only about 2.500 bales, according to estimates. But January weakened right after the rail under liquidation by people who seemed to be buying the later months. December reacted from 9.27 to f.20, and th* general list mold about 2 to 7 points net lower during the first half hour. There was no actual pressure against December, however, and the steadiness of this position, which quickly rallied fol lowing the early break, together with tht good demand for the later months from Wall street and outside sources, Imparted a generally steadier tone to the market during the middle of the day. and at one tlrnn prleea were net unchanged to 4 points higher. The close was off from the top under scattered realizing. The member* of the Liverpool cotton exchange estimate th* crop at 13.849.000 bales on the average.
