The statement contemplate* the is
suance of 9S90.000.000 worth of bond*
for Internal water court#., to be dis
tributed over a ten-year period, or

Following the lead of President
Roosevelt and President-elect Taft
both of whom before the Joint conser
vation meeting of yesterday advocat
ed the Issuance of government bonds
for the construction of permanent im
provements. endorsement wifi today
given the proposition of the Rivers and
Harbors Congraas by Vice Preaidant
Fairbanks. Andrew Carnegie, Jos. K.
Rgrsdell, president of the congress and
other epeak#ra. It was learned that
the congress In all probability will
adopt resolutions asking congrei
authorise the laeuence of bonds.

to Max Laxarus for the «um of $4,400.
Tho value of the stock had boon ap
praised at $11,000. There was only two
blddera. Mr. !<axarua and Mr. Henry
Kaplan. The latter run tlio bid up to
$4,050 and then stopped. By raising this
bid fifty dollars Mr. I<axarus got the
stock. The salo has been confirmed.
There were no developments'yesterday
In the mntter of the fake bids for the
Croom stock. The federal officers are
still endeavoring to locate R. J. Akertdge,
who made an offer In writing of $9,440,
and who can not be located. As the
other four bids, which are also believed
to be false, were made tn the same
manner, and were written out on tho
same typewriter In a very similar style.
It la thought thnt they were also made
by R J. Akerlilge. If apprehended ho
will have to answer to a charge of con
tempt of court.
