our talk, your committee Is unanimous
In believing that theso differences will
bo satisfactorily adjusted.
"Second. Mr. Finley suggested that
a through sleeper from Macon to New

would be better than a chair car, os
there would, of course, be no change
of cars In Atlanta. This sleeper was

regular service. We have every rea
son to believe that the up-town ticket
office will be opened within the next
few weeks.
"Third. Your committee was assured
that the Southern Railway Co. had now
under consideration the Improvement
of their passenger terminals, either
through the erection of a new depot, or
through some advantageous arrange
ment with the Central of Georgia rail
way to use the present union sta
tion. *
"In conclusion, your committee wishes
to advise that they were received In a
most courteous nnd friendly manner
by the officers of tho Southern Rail

MACON MAN III MERIDIAN
RECEIVES A CCMPLIIAENT
The following from a Meridian,
(Mias.) paper will bo road with grati
fication by tho friends In Macon of
Mr. Will F. Wilcox, son of City Engl
necr J. W. Wilcox.
Mr. Wilcox took hold of the water
works of Meridian when It waa a small
affair, and by his hard work and atten
tion, to say nothing of his ability, ho
haa made them tho pride of his city.
This Is said of his re-election:
Th« ro-elfction Tuesday night by the
Meridian water commission of Mr. W.
F. Wilcox ns general manager of the
Meridian waterworks, was the proper
thing to do. Whenever any depart
ment of a municipality Is In charge
of ono as efficient as the Incumbent
In this case has proven himself to be,
he should bo retained. Mr. Wilcox Is
master of the situation, which he has
In hand; he understands his huslnes;
thoroughly, and Is diligent and attorn
tlvo to It.
We confess to always having had a
fear that when the waterworks prop
erty should pass to the ownership of
tho municipality, the Job of manager
would be In danger of coining In time
to bo a sort of political football to be
property has been managed by tho
commission, nnd by all concerned, on
tho very highest plane and wMh tho
purpoao In* view of getting out of It
all the substantial benefits posslbt* for
the water-consumers and the general
public.
