The first man tef ask for a near-beer
license for the new year is Mr. L. T.
Thompson, of East Macon.
Under tho ordinance of the city,
each person or firm engaging in the

make application to the mayor and
council for a license, stating place of
business, owners In the business, etc.,
and promising not to remove from
that location, or to transfer tha bus
iness unless by permission of the coua;

Recently an ordinance was passed
requiring all persons engaging in the
billiard or pool room business to make
the same kind of application.
These applications will bo referred
to tho committee on police for a report
to council, and It will require a ma
jority vet© of the members of council
to grant an application.
As the licenses are due on tho first
day of January, those in these lines of
business have very little time in which
to make their applications.
