MISS ROBSON AS “VERA. THE
MEDIUM."
Spiritualism, mediums, clairvoyance,
telekinesis and other kindred matters
form a large part of the theme of Elea

Harding Davis, and which will he
here shortly. Incidentally. Miss Rob
son has scored one of the real hits of
her career, and It Is not unlikely that
tho new play will be Incorporated In
the repertoire that she Is gradually ac
cumulating. It Is her desire to get at
least six or seven plays that will *i|va H

task that Is—and play them from tlma
to time, changing the bill each night.

“THE RIGHT OF WAY.”
In making a *pl iy from a popular
novel the effectiveness of the result
depends very largely upon ability In
relation, condensation and elimina
tion.
Tho result fs pretty certain to be
disappointing to somebody or other.
One man will read a book for its story,
onothcr for its characterization, a
third for Its conversation and a fourth
for its descriptive quality.
Mr. Eugone Prcsbrey has succeeded
In offering a brilliant dramatization of
tho widely read and much dikeussed
novel, "The Right of Way," by Sir
Gilbert Parker which will pay a visit
to tho Grand Opera House for one
performance on December 29th.
The play Is especially Interesting ow
ing to tho fAct that H contains plenty
of physical action, as well as a deep
psychological study. Many persons
no doubt find their chief pleasure In
contemplating the operations of men
tal end moral forces at work on the
character of "Beauty" Steele. These
are elements which do not easily lend
themselves to the ordinary methods
of theatrical elucidation, but the sub
sequent regene: nt Ion of the chief char
acter and hi* ultimate return to a con
sciousness ot what has transpired In
his life, and tho heroic self-sacrifice he
waves In order to divert unhappiness
from others are fine moments of gen
uine Impress I veness.
BLANCHE "\VALSH.
“The Test,” which will be seen at
tho Grand on the evening of December
31. is the work of Jules Eckert Good
man. It Is declared by critics to be
strongest drama produced In
America in many years. In this play
Miss Blanche Walsh has found & ve
hicle particularly suited to her dra
matic talents. She considers it to be
of greater dramatic value than any
production In which she has ever np»
pcared. Miss Walsh has spared neith
er pains nor expense in getting to
gether one of tho best casts that pos
sibly could be employed.
