In an Interview with Mr. H. T. Powell,
president of the Macon clearing-house
Association, he staffed that the hanks,
composing the Macon Clearing-house, fol
lowing the action of the clearing-houses
of other cities of the south, have agreed
to close Friday and Saturday. December
25 and 2d. according to the official ad
vertisement which will be seen in another
column.
Mr. Powell stated that all those depos
itors who require weekly pay rolls wero
duly notified to get their pay roll money
yesterday, ao that they would not bo
Inconvenienced on Saturday.
It Is not the purpose of the hanks,
composing the Macon Clearing-house As
sociation. to pay checks nor to receive
deposits on next Saturday, the same as
on other days, for, if tnta were done,
there would be no closing of the banks,
and the clerks would bo deprived of the
holiday for which they so earnestly so
licited.

To Alter the blood is the kidney's
duty.

low:
Urinary trouble, diabetes.

E. H. AVant, 9504 Elm St., Macon.
Qa., says: *'I have the same good
opinion of Doan’s Kidney Pills today
as I had several years ago when I gavo
my name to be used In a public en
dorsement for this remedy. At that
time kidney trouble caused me no end
of misery. My back ached almost con
stantly and kept me awake at all hours
of the night. My kidneys wero also
very weak and I had difficulty in con
trolling the action of tho secretions. I
used several well known kidney reme
dies but the results were not of tho
best and when I saw' Doan's Kidney
Pills advertised, I concluded to glvo
them a trial, getting a box from the
Taylor-Bayne Drug Co. I had taken
hut a few* doses when I noticed a
change In my condition and continuing
their use, I was benefited In every way.
Since then I have been entirely free
from kidney trouble and glvo Doan's
Kidney Pills all the credit."

It was fortunate that Wllllnm Henry
wont out of the room to investigate the
robbery of the pantry. There was a
battle royal between Mr. nnd Mrs.
Harris, with Mrs. Harris the victor.
When William Henry returned to, de
liver the message that the llcker was
gone, he found hla par on the Horn’
bleeding from a scalp wound, and Ala
mar holding tho butcher knife n* If
aho wan hesitating whether to cut out
his heart, or to apurn the wretch.
There was nothing for William Henry
to do but to run and tell the officer on
the bout that his par was killing hla
mar, and this he did.
In court yesterday, both were meek
as lambs. Mrs. Harris had slopt ovor
her anger, and Mr. Harris had sober
ed. William Henry was disappointed.
It was Christmas eve. Jt eras tho
day before the day of all the days
when there should be peace, sweet
peace; when the wofld should rest from
its troubling*! nnd bickerings; when
the lamb should lie down with tho
lion, and the national bird should bo a
dove. Next to tho court’s hoart, in his
breast pocket, was a letter received
that morning from a home In another
state where the snow made the world.
ho white that there could be nothing
but peace, a wool peace. That letter
gently removed the bandage from the
eyes of the goddess ot Justice, and
softened the heart of the court. And
all ths time the machinery of the court
was In motion he was listening, not
to Its hum. but to the messages
brought by that letter, and as ho lis
tened his mind was runn'ng over snow-
topped hills to a far-off spot where
dwelt the writer of that letter, whose
one word would have opened the doors
of every prison In the land.
The case was dismissed.
