AN ACT, toapiend an act, regulating patrols,
passed the eighteenth November, seventeen
hundred and sixty five, so as to vest the ap
pointment of patrols in tho Justices of the
Peace.
Be it cnartld by fie Senate and Houee nf Ueprt
ecntatiies of the Xtide of Georgia, in General avem
/</./ met, and it t'.i hereby enacted by the authority
of the fame, That from and after the passage cf
this act, the Justice or Justices of the Poaco in
each captain' district in this State, eliadl be, and
they are h n reby authorized and required, to ap,-
point patrols for their, icspccu.c districts, make
out a schedule of all persons liable to do patrol
duty, aad at the first Justice’s court in tbo-ir dis
trict., or in five days thereafter, they shall organ
iz.e patrol companies a3 tho law direct, and ex
ercise all tho powers in doing so, and enforcing
the same, that are vested in the captains of the
iKttrict companies or otic, r militia offices, for neg
lect (if duty, to be subject to Lko penalties or
forfeitures.
Mcc. 2. .indie it further enacted, That all acts
or parts < f acts, which militate against the intent
aud meaning cf this act, be, and tho same are
nereby repealed.
