The morning hoar having been dispensed
with, the House, at 11:1.% went Into oom-
uittee of the whole (Mr. Camp, of New
Vcrk, in the chair) on the bill to reduce
■internal revenue taxation. Mr. White, of
Kentucky, spoke in favor of an amend
ment which be proposed to offer, repealing
tbe internal revenue system so far as it tp-
plies to tbe regulation of the production,
manufacture and sale of tobacco.
The debate on the above bill occupied
the remainder of the day’s session, out no
action on the bill or amendments was
taken. The committee finally rose and the
House, at 4:40, adjourned. A Democratic
cancis was announced to be held at 8 JO
this evening.
