Tho Supreme Court has rendered a dcoit

polygamous wife. Who has a three

this is one of the most
flagrant cases of polygamy in the Territo

the’bosrd of trade; John Motley, chief sec
retary for Ireland. The following appoint
ments have been made under the new ad-
m mint ration; Earl Sydney, lord steward of
the Queen’s household; Arnold Motley,
parsonage secretary; Charles Russell, attor
ney general. The composition ot the new
cabinet has caused great surprise. It is
thought to show marks of • compromise.
No definite appointments to minor of
fices have been announced.
The Doily News considers, the
ministry a strange one and especially ap
proved the appointment of Earl of Hose
berry and John Morley. It says the selec
tion of Earl of Kimberly for the Indian sec
retaryship is the only chafe* that is likely
to meet with MgsQn approval. Th* ab
sence of Lord Harrington bom the cabinet,
tbs News says, is a matter of regret which
fray, however, at no distant date be r»-
rroved.
Ths unusual I
g of a snow-storm
in New Orleans aflorded the opportunity for
much hilarious merry-making to some of
the idlers in that city. A favorite project
wss to get np on the honaetopa, roll np n
great bundle of enow and drop it on the
heads of the psaaenby. They wero oblivi
ous of th« fact that snow peeked together
in this wty could injure anyone. At one
point two or three Northerners were Sooted
by one of the«o heavy snowballs from the
honsotope, end in their raecntment they
opened oh tho frolicsome gentlemen on the
roof with hard, wi-lt-made snowball*, inch
aa are known ss “soakers" and “sockdolo-
gers,,' and which strike a man with the force
of a small rook. The experience waa en
tirely new to the Southerners, and they re
tired in confusion and dtaoomfitnre.
