Yesterday s boy waa shot while returning
trom Snuday-school, to-day a little girl was
shot on tho street, and it was thought
fatally wounded, tihe was carried away
ipparontly lifeless.
Tiida loads cf troops sre constantly ar.

An incident of the disorders to M follows:
Mrs. Mollsaine, Saturday, harangued n
small crowd of neighbors in regard to the
riots, aud roundly abused the police for
firing npon tlie people. (She afterwards ex-
pressed fear that Bhe wonid lose her life on
aooonnt of her speech. She, therefore,
in order to avoid recognition,

which she wore on Saturday. This precau-
ti in failed, however, to save her. Yester
day daring the progress of the riot she ran
to her door to gather in some straying chil
dren. A bullet struck her in tbe head and
she fell lift-lens in tbe doorway.
The Mpect of affairs was so threatenin;
st noon to-day that the authorities orderei
all tho taverns in the city to be closed until
to-morrow evening. Groups of men are
assembled everywhere excitedly disenssiog
the situation. The military early this morn
ing dispersed several rival mobs at the point
of the bayouet
It tho rioting breaks ont again it is likely
that martial law will be proclaimed. Daring
the day two opposing mobs in an outlying
district msnagel to elndo the police and re

hour there was a desperate melee. Both
] .lattice claimed victory. 11 is believt d that
•wo persons were kilted, and that
their bodies were smuggled
to their homes. Ono witness
declares that sixty persona fell, many
whom wero dead. It was evident that each
party intended to annihilate the other. The
mobs were dispersed by the military and
police.
It to reported that during the commotion
on (thank Hill the polios were preparing.to
tiro when they were confronted by
the military and peremptorily or
dered to desist. Tho police
snllenly towered their rifles, and the mili
tary commander succeeded in urging the
rioters, meet of whom it is believed were
Protestant, to return to tboir homes. A
certain man wm ehss d for four hours
by tho mob, thirsting for his blood,
bat be eluded his pursuers
after a desperate effort, when nearly suc
cumbing to exhaustion. Tbe police rescued
him by charging his pnraners at the point
of the bayonet A boy was chased by the
mob on emerging from tbe book entrance
of a factory, and was badly beaten.
Tbs girl who wm wonnded at noon to
day, to dying. The town to apparently
qaiet to-night, bnt mischief smoulders, end
it to thought the rioters are watching *helr
chance to renew hostilities. Tbs military
occupy the streets. Further reinforce
ments have been requested.
Tbe Orangemen are bitterly incensed
against the county police, whom they
allege tabs in sympathy with tbe Catholics.
Fifty rioters have been sentenced to terms
of Imprisonment ranging from on* mouth

It is learned that Catting sent the follow

“As t citizen of the State of Texas, I ask
of you the protection that my friends ns

This di-patch was sent against the most

The ciuzsns of El Paso yesterday formed
three volunteer companies to protoot the

Tbe brief is the work of Jons Maria l’al i-
ciss, the leading lawyer in the State of Chi

mokes an elaborate defense of tho Mexican
position, and attempts to prove that arlioio

Among ths anthorities on international law,
it quotes Heffier,Pelix,Ahearua,Ulurtsohitz,

Third, thst the article to fully justified by

The brief calls tho demand to deliver up

Article 180 referred to reads os follows
