Republican from bedalia. Mo., says: The
bitter feeling existing between the Gentry
and Heard faottons cf the Democratic party
came very near reanlting in bloodshed yes
terday atternoon. Major William Gentry
published a card in a local pacer Tuesday,
in which he repudiated Congressman
Heard and gave aa a reason that the latter
bail pandered to ;he Knights of Labor.

card denouncing the charge that he had
pandered fo Knight-: of Labor
as an infamous falsehood, and
uaserting that his refusal to recom
mend Gentry’s son-in-law for poatmiiHter
of Sedalla was tho true cause ot the diffi
culty between them.
Uaortly after 1 o’clook T. W. Gloney, son-
in-law of M ijnr Gentry, stepped into the of

Cloney, who turned fiercely npon
him and called him a ly ing . Heard
was in the act of rising to his feet to resent
the insult, when Gloney seiz d a cane and
dealt him a severe blow on the side of his
head.

instant, wrested tbe cane from his assailant
and threw him to the floor. A friend sep
arated the oombatints and endeavored
