The Angler, which was a short distance

The coroner was in tho country and could

As soon au ho arrived the body was re
moved from tho tug to Dixon's undertaking
rooms and a jury ot inquest was summoned.
The examination of witnesses was begun at
10 o'clock to-night. Solicitor-General Du-
llignon was present, repreHenting the
Staie'rt interest, but no armu* wore made.
The tefltimony went to iihow that there was
no intention on tho part of Abrams to kill
Fonda, and that the shooting was accidental.
A verdict was rondored in accordance with
thiso facts.
The remains were embalmed to-night .
and will be removed to the Central railroad
depot eaily in tho morning, whence they
will bo taken to his homo for interment.
Tbo deceased was a member of Hender
son CommAndery, No. 11, Knights Templar,
of Henderson, Ky. PulUtino Commandery
No. 7, of this city, will act as csobrl from
tbo houso to the train.
Mr. Fonda was 37 years old. He was to
have left the city Saturday night for Ken
tucky, to bring bis family to Savannah, bnt
at the solicitation of hi* friends remained
over to make the fatal trip down the river.

and was six feet two inches in height, well
proportioned, and a man of fine attain
ments. lie waa formerly auperintendent
of the Henderson division of the Louisville
