ATTACK ON AMERICANS.
Tirades on the Great Republic Uttered by
the Clerical Press of Mexico.
Cm of Mexico, Juno 14—The recent
action of the government in granting impor
tant concessions for colonization, public
improvements, etc., to Amcricam and
American comp unit a, ia the pretext for an
assault on the administration by tho organs
of tho chnrch party. The National, a
jrominent opposition journal, will, in a
eading article to-morrow, take a strong
stand against the Diaz administration for
grantiogconcessions to Americans.
“Each of these concisions," says tho
National, “is one link moro which ties us
to ‘that paciflo American conquest,’ as it is
termed by American journalists within and
without the country. With this ‘paciflo
conquest'there will bo no war; there will
be no armies of Americans invading Mexi
co, and no battles will be fought.

will create American interests, will make
the mu-lves the owners of Rreat manufao-
taring, mining, railway, and agricultural
enUrpriats; will acquire extensive territori
al properties; will txercise ^y their woaltb
decisive influence in the country, and the
day will arrive, if things go on as t» ey are
now goieg, when they will oontrol the tb o-
tions, will beoome deputies and ministers,
and nill decree who shall be President of
the ltepublio. The Oatholio religion will
then give place to Protestantism, to Jnda<
ism, to Mormonlsm, and to a thousand
ridiculous sects which exist in tho United
states, and the English language will
place the Spanish. In that day we shall no
longer be Mexicans—we shall be sieve* in
onr own land, and will oocupy the wretoh-
cd place which descendants of Mexicans now
occupy in California, Texas and New Mexi-
oo, \«ho have not assimilated with the
Yankee racos. If foreigners arc needed, let
Europeans be weloomed; lot Spaniards,
Frenchmen, English and Germans come,
but not Americans.
The writer goes on to say that Europeans
will aid the Mexicans to resist American in
fluence and overcome the Yankees. “To
admit Yankees," continues the article,
to seat at our table our mortal enemies,
Already Americans control the Central,
National aud Sonora railways. Many of
the richest mines are in their possession,
and soon therj will bo American banks of
discount, and all our wealth will pass into
their bands, because our government obey-
the fatal error which inclines it to them.
The future means Yankee absorption; tho
disappearance of the Mexican race in misery,
and an increase in the number of stars in
the hated American flag. If wo Mexicans
wish to prevent this terrible fate it is neoes
. ary that public opinion should not declare
It elf resolutely anti-American, as it is al
ready, but show itself in all its acts."
The tone of the clerical pres* continues
strongly anti-American, and bltUr in its on-
position to tho policy of thr Diaz adminis
tration, which favors protection, and for a
government of American capital and enter
prise.
