The Important question as to what disposition
■nail be made of tne State railroad matter by thia
Legislature ia, I think, approaching solution ln the
finance committee of the Honae. The bills and
rcaolnttena relating to the tale or lease of the road,
ln the handa of tho finance committee, were re
ferred to a sub committee, whose report some
weeaa ago waa published ln tho Iklegsapo.
Thia report in a measure, met the views of tie
committee, but as some modification and amend
ment were desirable, tho matte. ■ were referred to a
saw sub-committee with instructions to pnt in
shape a resolution, to be reported to the
House, embodying the views of the committee
as expressed ln the various discussions bad on the
report of the first sub-committee. This last sub
committee was eoa posed of Messrs, McLendon, of
Thomas; Clay, of Cobb, and Arnheim—gentlamcn
of high character and ability. They
gave the matters submitted to them the most thor
ough and Intelligent consideration, and hare made
a report with resolution, given below, which will
come up as the special order before the finance
committee next Wednesday afternoon. Tbs report
is rather lengthy, but is Important from the fact
that it will* probably be adopted by the finance com
mittee, and by them reported to the House. Ths
resolution will likely pass both House* and tt will
therefore bo interesting matter for the public. The
report Is as follows:
