Ignatius Donnelly, Auglo-Saxo-Crypto-

half the mot), have niado people look

Sir Theodore Martin, especially, has pub-

some and inform others, that Shakespeare

Jonsoni However, Ben’s later saying
in his “DUcovcrice,” that he loved
Shakespeare “on this side of
fdolatrie,” makes amends and appears to
prove that, even then, some loved Shake
speare beyond, or as far as “Idolatrie.”
Ben’s epigram’s against "Proule” and
other plagiarists are commonly mere run-
iniscences of Martial, and may have had
little or no actual r*teruice to contempo
raries. Probably moat of tho literary

tale of the ghostly manager of the “Lift,”
or "Elevator,” in tho French hotel. I
once introduced it into a budget of ghost
stories for an American magazine, and
then heaid, to my dismay, from the Ameri
