Colored Farmers* Alllnuce lVrllss
.Iboul It.
Marsdallvillb, Sept. 4.—Editor
Telkorapii: 1 read with profound re
grot the special In to^lay’s Teleorapu
from Monroe, Go., concerning the recent
meeting of tho Colored Farmers' Alli
ance in Walton county. Tbe constitu
tion of the Colored Fanners’ National
Alliance calls for no ruling of wages,
setting of prices or forming of trusts.
The interest* of tbe colored farmers and
tiie white farmers depend largely Upon
each other. 1 Whet*- the markets are
good they* enjoy the 1 dime buying,
when 'the markets srd dell they cutler
alike, neither can afford to work against
the other. 1 • ' * *
Them are many and various Indica
tions in the state of affaire all over the
South that a struggle lias been started
by tho farmers to better their condition.
The Fanners* Alliance forms one of these
indications, and I sincerely trust that the
gallant leaders of tliis innumerable work
ing hist will never leave tho battle fit 11
until all tbe^trusta formed and combined
«KMuial the taruiuni woiimmu iuiv ob
livion.
My advice to tho colored farmer Is to
livoin peace with his white friends
Get a foot bold in tbe soil, educate his
children, be more obedient to the civil
laws, and strive to make
better men end women of themselves.
To the white farmer—1 them to be
retient with the colored man. We know
his faults are many, unodurat««l as be is.
In timo ho can and will overcome them.
Let us learn to assist each other when
nnsirftanco is needed. Let not the white
farmer show any discontent towards the
colored man on account of the talk of
scheming denuurofruti.
Now, 6r. Effiltr, invited of "O(orgi»
Blacks Combine" don’t you think "Ocur-
gis Farmers Combine sounds better?
