COMING TO A VOTE.
The hour of 3 o’clock having arrived,
the previous question was considered as
ordered. Amendments to tho original
bill, offered by Taylor of Illinois and
O’Donnell of Michigan, were informally
adopted. McComas’ amendment to the
subetituto was also adopted. It provides
that when free coinage is attained the
monthly bullion purchases will cease.
Tho substitute as amended was then
ngreed to, and the question recurred
upon agreeing to the bill as amended by
tho substitute, lilnnd moved to recom
mit tho bill, with instructions to tho
cctnmittoo to report a free coinago bill
not later than Tuesday next. Dingier
mado a jxrint of order against tho latter
portion of tho liatructlows, which was
sustained, and Blnni modified his mo
tion so as to omit the provision for a
specified date. The moticn to re-commit
was defeated, yeas 116, nays 140.
On the motion to recommit, fifteen re
publicans voted yes with the democrats,
