Treasurer Hardeman hia received up
to today about *25,000 of the bonds of
the Northeastern railroad, upon which
the state is endorser, mostly from Ma
con, Brunswick, Savannah and Augus
te. There are *2«0.000 of these bonds
outstanding. Under the resolution of
the hurt legislature It la provided that
the governor should call for these bonds
and offer new twenty-year state bonds
at * 1-2 per cent, interest for them.

amount of bonds. b£J been sent to the
treasurer, the redemption whl be made,
provided the state cannot get a premi
um for the proposed issue of redefini
tion bonds. In that case the proceeds
of the new bonds axe to be used to pay
off the Northwestern bonds.
If the road can bo sold for sufficient
money to pay off the Northwestern
bonds, that will be done. The governor
is now making an Inspection of the
property In company with the railroad
