a lair which rivals that of the North
Carolina moonshiners, wbo dived

the grocery store of Messrs. Platt,
Hook & Shull, and the whole construc
tion of the underground tunnel, par
ticularly the manner of concealing the
way of entrance, was the acme of In
genuity. About $1,500 worth of liquor
was bugged, for between 300 and 400
gallon* of good liquor were found and
confiscated. The search of the place
