At Tyty Wednesday the large
ginnery and grist mills of J. L. T.
Gibbs were discovered to be in
flames, which spread so rapidly
that in a few minutes the build¬
ing with about thirty bales of sea
island cotton and a large quantity
of seed cotton were destroyed.
The loss is estimated at about
three thousand dollars. No insur¬
ance.
Some of the finest beef ever
seen in this market is being han¬
dled by Betts & Co. They have
a splendid pasture a few miles
west, of town upon which their
beeves are fattened for maiket—
about 45 head can now bo seen by
anyone who will visit this pasture.
Manager Bozeman is determined
to give their customers “the best

fresh meats, sausage etc.
Every Ashburnito is confident
that times will be more lively in
this town during (he coming win¬
ter months than ever before, and
the holiday trade will bo some¬
