joyed an entertainment Monday
evening at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. K. Jenkins.
Mr. H. Jeff rey went down to
Tifton again Sunday. We are
almost tempted to ask the why-
uess of this thusness.
We were recently a friend in
need and Dr. Gardner proved
himself a friend indeed, for which
he has our sincere thanks.
At the Literary meeting of the
League last, Friday evening, Miss
Mary Fut.ch and Mr. George T.
Betts won the prize for composing
the best poem.

Pastor Culpepper has returned
from Adel and will till his pulpit
at the Baptist church Sunday,
both morniug and evening. The

Mies Lizzie Bloodworth, of Gro-
vania, is the guest of Mass Maggie
Hadawav. Miss Bloodworth was
formerly a resident of Ashburn,
and has many friends here who
delight to welcome her.
It has been suggested, and wise-
ly too, that those who have “fire
works to burn” gather at the
Academy Monday night, where
“burning” will be done
ately after the Xmas tree exer-
vises.

Lane oilers our people an oppor¬
tunity of hearing 1 one of the most
humorous and entertaining lect¬
urers on tho American platform.
If you wish an evening of rare en¬
tertainment, increased weight
and better health, by all means
hear him. It, is through the eff¬
orts of Prof. Jeffcoat and under
the auspices of the school that the
lecture is given, half the evening’s
receipts going to tho school. Tho
admission will be, adults 50 cents,
children 25 cents, and places it
where all enu attend. One who
is a thoroughly compoutent judge
and who has heard Prof. Lane
says: “You laugh, you cry, you
laugh again; you think, you re¬
solve; as you leave the lecture
tho world looks brighter than ev¬
er before and yon go out into it to
do better work.” Remember the

Bohannon. Everyone who at¬
tended enjoyed the evening im¬
mensely and anticipate similar fu¬
ture entertainments with pleas¬
ure.
