We have no doubt that, he is
right. A system of public school
education could be devised that
would be ever m much more ben¬
eficial than the one in use. Mr.
Glenn's idea is that the system or
education should be of a charac¬
ter to make the pupils do a great
deal of thinking. Now they are
tuughl to memorize hundreds of
tilings which arc of no
benefit to them. The memory is
cultivated, but the reasoning pow¬
er is not, to the extent il should
be. If, u! the. very beginning of
their care, rs in tho schools, child¬
ren wor, required to do more
reasoning and less memorizing
