Mrs. C. F. Putnam is visiting her

Mrs. Jennie Gill has been quite sick,
but is now improving,
The farming interest is very lively in
the country at present.
Gardens are looking fine, and there
will soon be plenty of vegetables.
Mrs. Geo. D. Kimbrough was sick du
ring the middle of the week, but is up
again,
Miss Jennie Ford has a complete line
of spring millinery goods. Call and see
them.
Mrs. A, W. Godwin’s sister and broth
er-law from near Albany, is visiting our
town,
Mr. D. A. Pettis_ attended the State
Republican convention in Atlanta this
week.
Mrs. Amanda Paul has been very ill
for a considerable time, but now she is
up again, .
The Hon. H. B. Simmons, of Ameri
cus, was in Leesburg on legal business
this week.
Well, the boys have a long time to run,
and those that are short-winded had bet
ter come down.
Mr. S. B. Smith, our sheriff, has made
a good one, and will probably not have
any opponent this time.
Miss Ethel Ware, Miss Myrtle Odom
and Mr. Reid Stovall took a pleasant
ride Snnday afternoon.
Mr. W. F. Williams, who has been
clerking for Mr. C. F. Putnam, has gone
into the brick mason business.
Mr. I. P, Cock, of Armenia, will be a
candidate before the grand jury for re
election for county commissioner. .
The Sunday school at the Methedist
church is flourishing, there being a good
attendance. Let the good work go oan.
The devil is working here at the press
while the editor visits the devil at the
other press. The devil will try to make
success.
Some unknown person stole a cow
from Mr, John Youngblood recently, but
he fortunately found her a day or so af
terward,
Mr. George Kimbrough will open an
ice house in Leesburg on or about April
15th. This will be a.great convenience
to the public. ;
Master Cheley Holliday left last Tues
day for Mepleville,, Ala., where he ex
pects to make his home with his mar
ried sister at that place.
Mr. Rowe Price, cashier of the Bank of
Smithville, was a visitor to Leesburg
on Wednesday last. Mr. Price is a friend
and patron of the Journal.
Mr. T. H. McGillis, of Amiericus, who
has been engaged in the printing busi
ness in that town for several years, gave
the Journal a pleasant call on Wednes
day last.
In another column will be found the
announcement of Hon. J. R. Williams as
a candidate for the office of Solicitor
General of the Southwestern Judicial|
District. Mr. Williams is fully compe
tent to perform the duty of state’s attor
ney, if elected.

‘this week for re-election to the office of
Solicitor General of the Southwestern
Judicial Circuit. He is no doubt well
qualified for the position he now occu
pies, for he has proven himself so.

Mr. N. E. Outlaw is a candidate for
coroner, subject to the action of the dem
ocratic primary, Mr. Outlaw is a clever
and deserving gentleman. His anoounce

on the first Tuesday in April next the
following real property belonging to said

known as the Lizzie Johinson home place
and as the place occupied by her at the
