Tom Watson is going to follow Bryan
through Indiana with the idea of -over
coming the iatter’s admittedly fine work
there for democracy. The republicans
know just where to use Tom.

A Chicago woman has instituted suit
fordivorce on the ground that whenever
her husband had the ‘‘blues’’ he would
come into the house, hang hisold clothes
on the wall, and then amuse himself by
throwing potatoes at them. Instead of
suing him for divorce thif woman should
have thanked th: fate tha gave her such
a man. We have read of soine men who,
when similarly effected, threw worse
things than potatoes at their wives,

It sheuld be remembered by those who
are ready to entrust the government to
the plungers now in charge of it that thei
record-breaking extravagance of the
Roosevelt Administration is considered
rigid economy by the candidate and those
;n cahoot with him, . ‘
-~ MR. BRYAN.
The conduct of Willian: Jenning Bryan
must win the respect of all hionest men,
regardless of politics. It must eSpecially, ‘
win the admiration of every true democ.rat !
throughout thi broad land. :
There were those who predicted that l
Mr. Bryan would sulk and act the part of
a traitor to his party when the party
abandoned Mr. Bryan’'s pet theorys at
Bt. Louis and set its face forever against
some of his most cherished ideals. There
~were those right here in Georgia, where
Mr. Bryan has for yecars been regaided as
the khightliest patriot in all the west,
! who sneered and cast insinuations.
Out yonder in Indiana, the real ‘“‘ene
my'’s country,” Mr. Bryan isspeaking day
day atter day, as only Mr. Bryan can
speak, tn his thousands of followers and
admires and is begging them to vote for
Parker and Davis and a reunited and
splendid democracy. _
Like the manly man that he recants
not one of his views on silver and other
policies, but he declares that the welfare
of this great country demands that the
‘““Big Stick” be forever relegated to the
rear and that the party of the com- 1
mon people be given the reins «f govern- ‘
ment. He is battling with the great
south for white supremacy and home 1
rule. ;
What a splendid contrast this is to Mr.,
Watson. The latteris openly aiding and
abetting the black and tan party and its
avowed liking for rascal equality. Hand
‘in glove withe ‘‘Big Stick’’ and tis negro- .
loving and negro-coddling methods, Mr
Watson is betraying his own every dav‘
that he speaks and urges his following to
favor Roosevelt in preference to Parker.
So venemousis he in this, or so well is he
paid for it, that he now proposes to follow
the Nebraska knight. through Indiana
and try to undo all the good the latter
has done, isdoing, or may do there.
But the contemptible business will fail.
The people love and respect Mr. Bryan.
The day has come when no man respects
Tom Watson. What the former says
must command the respect of all men,
for, no matter what else one may say ot |
Mr. Bryan, hissterling honesty is disput
ed by none. While Wats'n, to speak
most charitably, isa ‘‘suspicions charac
ter’” in politics, a man without follcwing
or without a countryv he can call his
own, ‘
Mr. Bryan has won the everlasting re
spect, confidence and love of all the party
and we hope his voice may ever exercise
much influence in party council and in '
national affairs, Heisa splendid man |
and a spledind potriot. -
