The municipal election at Smithville last T uesday was rather a close race with several on the ticket. The following getle men were elected to serve the town for the next two years. Mayor, ‘5. B. Avyera Councilmen, B. I. McKinney W. D. Wells and Wade Turner. Mr., Cochrun was elected for cecretary and treasurer } Justice of The Peace Election, ' The election fur a Justice of the peace l and constable for this distsict last Satur day was not without interest. There was at the start four aspirants for the office . Messrs D. A. Ragan, B. E, Powell, S, A.! Duncan and John Gill, but before 10! o’clock Mr. Duncan and Mr, Gill with- | drew leaving the race with Powell and | Ragan. Mr. Powell won by a mujority of | 16 votes. Mr. Henry Logan, for constable ! had no opponent. Mr. Logan makes a good officer, He is always on the lookout for criminals. i Do you favor ring politics and politi-'i tions?
