A BONANZA FOR THE BOSSES.
While the farmers who are still swing
ing to their $3O, cotton bales at thesug
gestion of Hon. Harvy jordan when they
refused $5O for them at the suggestion of
Hon. Harvey Jordan, may be benefited to
some extent as the »esuitof the cotten
holding movement of which Mr- Jordan
is president, it seems there are others still
who will be more largely and more di
rectly benefited.
Among these latter miy be mentioned
Mr. Jordan, himself, but as “'the labor)r
is wer.hy of his hire” perhaps this feat
ure is alright,
As president of this organization and
chief advisor of the farmers, despite the
tremendous loss already sustained
through advice previdusly given by him,
Mr. Jordan is to receive the splendid sal
ary of $5,000 a year, to be paid him by tha
farmers.
Mr Jodan’s chief assislant, Mr, T, J.
Simmons, in the role of chicf of p..blicity
bureau, likewise wil receive a handsome
salary, paid by the cotton producers, The
duties of the ‘-chief ot she publicity bu
reau’’ will consist laagely in mailing liter
- ature and circulars to the county press,
-in the way of advice to the iarmers. the
same to be puclished gratis, of course.
What the result of th_. convention’s
work will be, eventually, cannot be clear
ly predicted at this stage. Itis hoped that
he farmers, acting upon Mr, Jordau's ad
vice, may get more for their cotten, even
though they lost out in taking such ad
vice heretofore, butat all events President
Jordan, witi his $5.000 Stil‘dn')” and chicf

hurt, :
“The farmer feeds the world” it has
been said, and in this instance it mayb
added that ‘‘the farmer pavs tha freight”
thouga the chargesseem a trifle excessive.
