The following communication from Mr J, B,
Stringer is published dy requestofa friend:
‘Down in “Glasgow D istrict,” Lhomas County, the
whites ran a white man for *“ Justice of the Peace and
the whites were defeated, How could < that happen
where we hive a white primary, you may ask? Well
§t was this way, the colored people put them out a can
didate, and being in the majority, whipped the whites
and elected their man, and snapped their fingers at
the white primary. What is the white primary worth
in @lasgow District? What would it be worth any
where else under the same conditions? Dethey have
white supremacy fn Glasgow? Don’t they huve ne
gro supremucy? What does the Clark Howell, the
Monticello tame-—the tiuth |!isx'r.fxscl|iacr, and 1. H.
kst of war fame, whom the daughters ot Confeder

We hear it said that there will be another
paper established in Leesburg in a few days.
Welcome brothers come on, competition is
the life of trade, In the meantime we dont
propse to desert the cause of the people.
Now is the time to subscribe, We pro
pose to tell you some rzore things in the near
future that will open your eyces,
And we sincergly hope that our prospective
rival will do likewise, if so we will turn over
our presses and outfit and buy extra material
to make the office complete to the new paper
if it will agree to stick to the things that are
fur the general welfare of the people of Lee.
We have a plant ready,
We dont ask it to mention Hoke Smith or
Clark Howell, or any other candidate, We
will only ask that it show up to the farmers
and people that they have not had a fair deal.
**That they have not had a fair deal for
Betty and the Babies.”’
We will loan our outfit on these terms and
‘go and try to have some fun fishing ¢n Muck

Let Up Boys When A Man Is beat.
Mr. Howell before Hoke Smith was a can
didate having heard that Hoke was being
asked to run by THOUSANDS of people, bs
gan to abuse him and dare him to run,
Mr. Swmith before Mr, Howell made his
formal announcement (of course he consider
ed it all hxed with the machine, did Mr, How

had him pictured up in one oi those nasry
cartoons in May 1905, Mr. Howell COURT
ED Dear Tom, and Dear Tom kicked him,
and then Mr, Howell went to printing Dear
Tom and Hoke as pirates, Mr. Howell
SRARTED it all, but now he is crying it ap
pears for calf rope, A recent editorial of his |
paper says that they did the same way by
other men, and pelted them with hard tuings
or words 10 that effect, Meaning that other
great men like Mr. Howell had opponents, |
like Hoke has because he Is trying to get the
PECPLE a fair deal.
Mr. Howell stirred up a hornet nest. Mr,
Howell must expest to get STUNG a little.
- Mr. Tmith was debating measures and issues
ane plans to make the people free. Mr,
Howell was telling folks that Boke smith was
a rascal. If its got a little too hot for Mr.

Clarks Decatur Street Meeting Was a Big
Success.
Now on Friday nsght the Hon, Clark
Howell’s forces held a rally on Decatur
Staeet, in Atlauta, The Conetitution,
which reports the meeting, says as follows
*“Lhe hall which seated between 300 and
400 people, was packed until there wasn't
standing room’’. Brass bands always
draw gome ——— crowds,
Boys you know that the report that 350
white voters from Lee County went to the
debate at Albany, originated with the Con
stitution, and that it said, they were all for
Howell,
Here i 3 what was said in part- at the meet
ing taken from the Constitntion ‘“‘Hoke
Smith is not worthy to stoup down and un
loose the Ihtchet of Clark Howell's shoes,
exclaimed Mr, Douglas, and applause wag
deofening. Besides more and more state
ments,
Here is another statement taken from the
Constitution, reporting the words ol one
of the speakers; *We must do cur dety
We have on une hand"” he said “a man
who is pure and honest. That is Clark How
ell . On the other hand we haveavile anl
corrupt man, and that is Hoke Smith”i
;(:mmtry folks still for Hoke, and a,, of
Decatur Street, let alone the 300 or 400 at i
}thc meeting, cant change them, Nothing

And this ‘‘Mr, Watson does not hate the ne

What is the matter with Lee. Why is it
that her people are so much overtazed. To
