Well, Mr. Editor, I'll fry and
come again.

>Ir. Carroll is a broad minded man
of considerable thought.
We bad a moef refreshing show
er of rain a few days ago. The
people had almost given up all
hope of rain, but the Good Master,
knowing more about His business
than we poor, little, ignorant crea- I
tures, has Been fit to give us dry
weather until wo could get
crops in good shape, and then Ik-;
sent us a good season. Crops are I
looking very well considering the j
dry weather, hut the meadows
haven’t done any good for some
time and that good rain came just
in time to save the’grass.
Rev. Joseph Walts preached a j
very ahlo eermou at Rocky liillt
church the first feuuday mid uiaue
Borne good points. One trf which
I cull to mind is something like ■
this; “Brethren, I am not
ing a Baptist sermon, nor a I’ree- i
bvtenan , . sermon, . nor a Methodist ,
-
sermon, but I am preaching the bi
ble.” If all the preachers would
preach the gospel, and let this lit
tle puny denominational prejud led .
aloue, they could do more good for
others aud probably save then ow i
scalps. Of course I dou’t blame
nuy preacher, when it is necessary, j
to preach a doctrinal sermou, that
of , reason, hut , , tho ,, very idea ,
is one
of any preacher getting up in the
plilpit and proclaiming tuai (hi®,
that or the other denomination is
the (rue and only denominaiion in
the world makes ino fired; as jf

G. R. Glenn in r
slate school commissioner. We 1
have shown him by our vote wheth
er not we wanted “Spelmau teach
ers to redeem Georgia."
I reckon the public school teach
ers of Georgia will be glad when
Glenn steps dowu and Professor
Merritt steps tip. I suppose Mr.
G: nn gave tho boys “the bone”
iii (he recent examination, ns it
is the last time hi- will over have
the blissful pleasure of trying to
stuff the teachers with “theory.”
Of course there were a few of the
favored oues iu Uniou county who
supported Mr. Glonu, but that is
all right; they ought to have done
so, I guess. Now we have a chance
to revolutionize tho educational
system iu Georgia.
We have nominated a man
of some ability for state school
commissioner, but we don’t want
him to “redeem it with Spelmau
teachers” as Mr. Glenu wanted to
do. The next thing wo need is a
