A Printers Parody.
DEDECATEI) TO THE IWTROXS OV THE STANDARD.
lii seasous when our funds are low,
Subscribers are provoking slow,
And new supplies keep up the flow,
Os dimes departing rapidly.
But we shall see a sadder sight,
When duns pour in from morn to night,
Commanding every sixpence bright
To be forked over speedily,
Our bonds and due bills all arrayed—
Each sea’, and signature displayed—
The holders vow they must be paid
By threats of “ Law aud Chancery.”
Then to despair we are almost driven—
There’s precious little use of livin’,
When our last copper’s rudely riven—
From hand that held it lovingly.
But larger yet those duns shall grow,
When interest added on below,
Length’ning our chin a foot or so
While gazing at them hopelessly.
’Tis so that scarce have we beguu
To plead for time upon a dun.
Before there comes some other one
Demanding pay ferociously.
The moment darkness. On, ye brave,
Who would our very bacon save!
Waive, patrons! all your pretext waives, |
And pay the printer cheerfully.
Ah ! it would yield us pleasure sweet,
A few delinquents now to meet,
Asking of 11s a clear receipt
For papers taken regularly.

*3£Zx Dr. Alsophcrt begs to call the atten

treats diseases of the middle and internal Ear
with Medicated Douches, such as is practised in
the Infirmaries of Berlin, Leipsic, Brussels,
Hamburg and St. Petersburg, and lately by the
most distinguished London A m ists, with the
most wonderful success ; indeed, it is the only
method that has been uniformly successful.—
The best proof of the efficacy of the treatment
will be a ruferonce to nearly nine hand red names,
residents of the United States, Canada, New
Brunswick and Nova Scotia, who have been re
stored to acute hearing, and not a single, solita
i rv case, to our knowledge, did we fail to effect
I either a partial or total restoration of the Hear
] ing, when our advice and instructions were
I faithfully and punctually adhered to. Many;
who could not hear the report of a pistol at!

j distance of four feet.

! called the “ Drum,” or when the disease can be
] traced to the effects of Fever, colds, the use of
Quinine, Mercurial Medicines, Gatherings in the
Ears in childhood, Ac., Dr. Alsophcrt’s treat
ment stands pre-eminent. Where the Auditory
Canal Is dry and scaly, with little or no secre
tion, when the deafness is accompanied with
noises ill the Ear, like falling water, chirping of
insects, ringing of bells, rustling of leaves, con
tinual pulsations, discharge of matter, or when,
in stooping, n sensation is felt as if a rush of
blood to the head took place, when the hearing
is less acute in dull, cloudy weather, or when a
cold has been taken, this method of treating
this disease, <’* infallible.
In deaf and dumb cases my experience war
rants me in saying, that if the hearing was at
! any time good, very much can be accomplished.

thut in those cases he undertakes he guarantees
a successful result, complete restoration, or such
a marked improvement as will be perfectly sat

and directions adhered to.
Applicants will please state their age, dura
tion of disease, if matter issues from the external
passage, if there are noises in the Ears, state
of general health, and what they suppose to have
been the cause of the deafness. When the hear

sician in the London Royal Infirmary for dis
eases of the Lungs.
In the treatment of Consumption by inhala
tion, 1 have obtained the results which warrant
me in asserting, that it is as curable as diseases
of the stomach and liver.
Breathing Medicines directly into the lungs is
! certainly the rational mode of attacking the
; disease, and like many other great beneficent
discoveries, it seems strange why such treatment
was not resorted to long ago. 44*hcre there is
, life there is now assured hope for the most seem
ingly hopeless cases, as throughout all the stages
; of this insidious disease, the wonderful and ben
| eficicnt effects of his treatment are soon nppar-i
i cut. In cases also of Bronchitis, Asthma, Ac.,
inhaling of powders and vapors has been emi
nently successful, and of those suffering under
any o'fthe above named complaints, I can guaran
tee speedy and certain relief. 1 have pleasure in
referring to 2"7 names, residents of New York
and neighborhood, who have been restored to vi
gorous health. About one third of the above
number according to the parents’ own state
ments, were considered hopeless cases.
The inhaling Method is soothing, safe, ami
speedy, and consists in the administration of!
medicines in such a manner that they are con -
veyed into the Lungs in the form of vapor, and;
product's their action at the seat of the dis-i
ease. Its practical success is destined to revoln- 1

establish the entireeurability of consumption.
