I The Jury are of opinion that said sums of
1 money are due the county, nnd of right ought
I to be paid.
I We have examined also the office and books
I of the clerk cf the Superior Court; we fiud the
I office in good keeping, and it is with pleasure
I that we testify- to the neatness and care of that \
I officer in the faithful discharge of his duties.
We have examined also the office and books
I ot the Ordinary, and we hereby report to this
1 bodv that we found them kept in a neat, order
| ly and correct manner.
We hare examined also the Jail and find it
I in good repair and well kept.
I We have examined also the Treasury, and
I find it as usual, empty, and in debt. We can
I testify, however, with pleasure to the faithful
I discharge of the duties of that office by our
1 present Treasurer, and the books show that
I he has advanced funds from his own private
B purse to defray public expenses.
The Grand Jury otNhe present week would .
| also most respectfully represent it as their opin- i
I ion, that something like a saddle-bags grocery !
1 has been kept by the Superior Court of this !
| week, in the august personage of one of the
I constables, without license : wherefore we cau-
I not safely conclude that the Tempcraxtoe cause
I is highly esteemed, by that mu of the law, and
I while we exhouerate the Cuurt from a kaowl
-1 edge even of this newly established feature in
I the traffic, still we must set our faces against
I all saddle-bag’ groceries, tuid more especially
| when kept by a constable in attendance upou
K tlie Court. This particular constable we have
| concluded thus to cunnouizc, and hand his deeds 1
■ of consummate effrontery and shame, down to
111 future constables, os a well-marked instance-of
■ wilful contempt for Court. We did not see the
■ liquor, but we did see the saddle-bags—and it
S is the deliberate opinion of this Jury that no
jEb other Jury ever saw a pair of saddle-bags es
H much like a jug of brandy before—for they smelt
H like the jug had been broken. Now a constable
■’ is quite a small appendage to the Court any
i how, and when he grows so beautifully loss,
f as to become part and parcel of a pair of saddle
m bags, that sun-ils just like a broken jug of
brandy, be attains to a station so small in our
•yes that we think he’s of no use at all.
\ It is with unfeigned regret that the Grand
h Jury of tlie present term are obliged to repre-
I sent the county as still insolvent, and we cau
|H not see a remedy for this foul spot upon our
S history. To tax the people would be an uti-
S righteous burden; to leave it all to time would
9be unwise—for our children would rise up to
wonder and blush at the deeds of their fathers, j
a an 'l while we therefore are well assured that. ‘
■ something ought to be done, we know not what !
■ to do. But the evil day must come. The peo- i
g pie must Submit to onerous taxes, for the relief j
I of their county, or thev must and ought now, ‘
| to repudiate every claim that does not dart sun- j
beam light in the blind eyes of Justice. It is !
| true beyond all doubt, the county has been
F wronged—both in purse and policy, and while
wc would invite all to propose a remedv, we
I c * aim our privilege and bring in our suggestion.
M hen a citizen becomes insolvent, our laws
seh him out, and set him up anew—and this is
the best remedy we know for a county—lot us
sell out and take a fresh start: the old books
and old records never can be purged and the
best that can be done, is to secure what is right
in them and repudiate what is wrong. Sell all
we have—pay our debts, and walk more cir
cumspectly for the future.
l he good name of a county ought to be worth
something, and of more value than all her !
wealth besides. By remaining as we are, we j
never cun get that good name; therefore let us
strike for a good name—the suggestion is given J
—we invite a remedy. j
In taking leave of his honor, Judge Trippe, ‘
wc would testify to his diligent and faithful ad-
Ministration of the law; aud return our thanks i
to Col. J. J. Word, Solicitor General, for his
prompt and kind attention to this body. (

TO THE PATRONS OF
PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLE PAIN KILLER.
OWING to the large amount of Counterfeit
Pain Killer put up and sold as genuine by
unprincipled men we have been obliged to re
sort to very expensive measures to protect our
selves pecuniarily, and the public from great
injnry, by buying and using their worthless
couuierfeits. —The comparative plain and simple
style in which our Pain Killer has been put up,
has made it very easy for those disposed, to im
itate it very successfully, so far as its external
appearance, in style of bottle, label and color of
the article ; but we need not say that the com
pound is a miserable, filthy production, and cal
culated to do great injury to those who might
use it with confidence that they have been ac
customed to use the genuine Pain Killer. Par
llwhose business it is to counterfeit valuable
preparations, do ‘.t in so secret a manner, that,
it is almost useless to attempt to punish them
by legal measures, as it is difficult, and we might
say impossible to bring proof home to them/
Considering the great difficulty iii protecting
ourselves and the public by prosecuting parties,
wc. have been to a very great expense in getting
up a finely executed
STEEL ENGRA FED LABEL,
for our bottles. Wc also attach to our bottles s
Steel Engraved Note of Hand, which we issue
as our obligation, and to counterfeit which is
held to be forgery by the laws of the United
States, and which parties will not dure attempt
to do. The great, expense attending the getting
up and printing of these labels wili prevent the
attempt to counterfeit, thus securing to the pub
lic that the article they purchase is the genuine
Perry Davis’ Pain Killer, manufactured by Per
ry Davis A Son, Sole Proprietors.
The Pain Killer will be put up in a n#w style
of panriel bottle, with the words,
I)A VIS’ VEGETABLE PAIN KILLER,
blown in the Glass. We have discontinued the
use of the thirty seven and a half cent bottles,
and now put up only four sizes, via: at L 2 1-2,
25, 50 eeuts and £1 .00 per bottle.
We have also a very fine Engraving on Stone,
for the Box. labels, specifying tlie contents of the
Box, where and by whom manufactured, Ac.—
We have also added to our*pmph!et of direc
tions and certificates, a co.ver beautifully finish
ed, presenting on the first page a verv excellent
likeness of Perry Davis, the original inventor of
the I’ain Killer. The bottle labels, and one la
bel on each box, has also x correct likeness of
Perry Davis, which it will be impossible to
counterfeit successfully.
We have been to this expense, that th public
might have perfect confidence that they were
getting the genuine article when they buy a bot
tle as above describled. To those who have so
longed used and proved tlie merits of our arti
cle, we would say that we shall continue to pre
pare our Ruin Killer of the best and purest ma
terials and that it shall be every way worthy of
their upp.obatiou as a family medicine.

It Is Fact Fttil>£ibhed
A Nl) well known that the Arabians attained
f\. a height in the knowledge of medicine
which caused the whole world to wonder and
admire. With them the science of chemistry
had its birth, and it is, therefore, not at all
strange that a people so eminently successful
in the healing art, and so persevereing and dar
ing character, should, by actual and untiring
experiment, discover remedies far surpassing
in efficacy all others, for the cure of these dis
eases incident to them from their, mode of life.
The greater part of their time bring spent in
hazardous aud bloody warfare with the different
tribps, 11 sey went subject to the most violent at
tacKs of rheumatism, paralysis, neuralgic pains,
and various inflmputory diseases, as also the
most horid wounds, sprains, bruises, tumors,
swellings, diseases of the joints, etc., etc. All
these diseases they were so surprisingly efficient
in curing, that the uninitiated looked with won
dor and attributed their skill to the powers of
magic.
H. G. EA RR ELL'S A RAMA N LINIMENT’
is a composition of balsams and oils, from rare
plants peculiar to this country, and it was by
the use of the articles composing this remedy
that not only their physicians, but even the
wild Arabs of the desert were enabled to perform
such miraculous cures. The Arab steed .s world
renowned for his beautiful symmetry ts form,
his unsurpassed speed arid agility, snd the in
credible fatigue he i* capable of enduring. —
Why is it? Because from the time of his birth
his limbs are carefully watched, and upou the
first, appearance of disease the magic lotion is
applied, and such things as confirmed sweeny,
noil-evil, fistula, ringbone, scratches, spaviu,
lameness, etc., etc., are unknown. The same
result will follow in all cases where 11. G. Far
rell’s Genu ne Arabian Liniment is used in time.
Therefore delay not in procuring a good supply
of it, for every dollar spent in it will save you
twenty, and a great deal of suffering, ifnoi vour
life. ‘
The public are cautioned against another coun
terfeit, which has lately made its appearance,
called AY. B. Farrell’s Nrrabian Liniment, the
most dangerous of ail the counterfeits, because
bis having the name of Farrell, many will buy
j it in good faith, without the knowledge that a
j counterfeit exist, and they will perhaps only dis
l cover their error when the spurious mixture has
wrought its evil effects. 1
