seige. The Pope protests against the

consider the matter. Ancona is on the
Adriatic, and is one of the most impor
tant cities in the Papal States.
The Bank of France has raised its rates
for discount from three to lour per cent.—
Louis Napoleon’s manifesto appeared

The Dutch Government has appealed to
the Chambers for a credit of live hundred
thousand pounds sterling.
