the following from the Savannah Republi
can, of the 5th inst:
We have seen the prospectus of a new
paper to be issued in Savannah on the 1st
of November next, under the title of the
Savannah Evening Express.” It is to be
Democratic in its political views, and de-
oted to the advocacy of Southern Rights,
though conservative in its sentiments and
policy. For the present, a daily edition
only will lie issued, at the rate of $5 per
annum.
The Express will be owned and edited
by Mr. Ambrose Spencer, a gentleman of
talents and education, and possessing many
qualifications for a successful career as an
editor. We welcome Mr. S. to our city,
and trust he mat - find his experiment both
pleasant and profitable.
As its name indicates, the Express will
be issued as an evening paper.
