The Congressional Globe and Appendix will
contain a report of all the debates in Congress,
revised by the speakers, the Messages' of the
President of the United States, the annual re
ports of the heads of the Executive Depart
ments, the laws passed during the session,
and copious indexes to all. They will be print-
use of the officers of Court, and other fi fas, vs ! ed on a double royal sheet, in book form, roy
al quarto size, each number containing 16 pa
ges. The whole will make, it is believed, be
tween 3,890 and 3,000 pages, the long sessions
for many years past having ranged between
those numbers, and the next session will be a
long one- This I believe is the cheapest work
ever sold in any country, whether a reprint,
or printed from manuscript copy, taking for
<lat<’ the average number of words of the long
sessions since the year 1848. The average
number of pages is 3<S7t>, and the average
number of words on a page is 8,397. conse
quently the average number of words of a long
session is 9,290,77 2.. As 1 have sold to sub
scribers that number of words for six dollars,
it follows that (hey have paid less than Gj/j'
cents for every 100,000 words I have furnished
them, while I have paid my reporters $6.29 “or
every 2,397 words, of this work, in manuscript.
The coming session will, without doubt, be
an uunsually interesting one, because the can
didates of the respective parties for President
and Vice President of the United States will
be nominated before it closes, and, therefore,
the debates will be mostly on such political
questions as, it may be thought, will tend to
influence public opinion in regard to the per
sons to be supported for these offices, and The
Globe will be, as it has been for many years
past, the only source from wliiclr the full de-

The celebrated Copper Toe.
MITCHELL’S
Patent Metallic Tip,
DESIGNED especially for
BOYS’, YOUTHS’ AND CHILDREN’S
Boots and Shoes.
A N improvement has been applied to Boots
and Shoes, by which a saving of expense
to the consumer, of two-thirds, is realized, by
actual experiment,
THE TIP consists of a piece of copper or
other indestructible material, neatly fastened
to the toe of the boot or shoe, forming a com
plete protection. This invention is now pre
sented to the public, with the -fullest knowl
edge of its practical utility, having been test
ed over two years, and is destined entirely to
supercede live old style, for children's, boys"
and youths’ bools and shoes.
The importance of this invention will be
readily appreciated, as ii is known that chil
dren invariably wear out tlieir boots and shoes
first at the toe, and with this protection, they
will upon an average wear at least, two or three
times as long as the old style, while the ex
pense is but a trifle more.
Tliis invention is also especially applicable
to miners’ boots, and all occupations subject
ing the toe of the boot or Shoe to be cut oi
worn.
Merchants, and tlie public generally, wil
see the importance of obtaining these goods
immediately, as they are destined, for general
use, to supercede all other-kinds.
The goods may be obtained of nearly all tin
wholesale dealers in the principal cities, or ol
the subscribers, (owners of the patent,!

Little. In using, nothing else is required to
relieve children ot worms; and besides beine
one of the best and cheapest ever offered to the
public, its frequent use in families will save
much trouble and expense, as well as the lives
of many children; for eight out of every ten
cases generally require it. 1
DR. LITTLE’S FRENCH MIXTURE.
This is prepared from a French receipe (i,i
the forms of No. 1 and 2; the first for the ac
ute, and No. 2 for the chronic stage) that has
been much improved upon in this country-
and from its unexampled success is likely to
supercede every other remedy for the cure of
the diseases of the Kidneys and Bladder, Gon
orrhoeal. Blennorrhoeal, and Lnchorroeal or
Flour Albns affections. This extensive con-
pound combines properties totally different in
ta.te and character from anything to be found
in the United States. Pharmocopea or in pri
vate practice: and in point of safety and effi
ciency is not rivaled by anything in America.
DR. LITTLE’S RING WORM AND TETTER
OINTMENT.
Hundreds of cases of Chronic Tetters, Scald-
Heads, and diseases of the skin generally, hare
been cured by this remedy, and since the in
troduction of the No. 2 prepearation (being
stronger) scareefy a case has been found
that it will not effectually eradicate in a shoif
time. For the cure of Cancerous Sores* and
Ulcers it is applied in the form of plasters
and is almost infallible. ’■
Physicians are referred to the 13th page of
Dr- Little’s pamphlet, to the catalogue of Med
icines of Materia Medica, that he uses in com
pounding his different remedies, and asked to
say if they are not the chief reliance of the pro
fession, as he himself has practised med
icine extensively for more than ten years
before retiring to the drug buisiness.
In more than two hundred places in Georgia,
and in all the Southern States, they are to be
had, and there are scamps about who arc
counterfeiting his remedies, by palming ofl
their own or something else, by using the
sanie or similar name.

WOOD’S HAIR RESTORATIVE.
S AYS the St.Louis (Mo.) Democrat: Below
we publish a letter to Di. Wood, of this
city, from a gentleman in-Maine, which speaks
glowingly of the superior merits of hi* hair
tonic. Such evidence must have its effect,
when coming from a reliable source. If cer
tificates are guarantees of truth, the Dr. needs
no encomiums nor useless puffery from the
press: :
Batit, Maine, Jan. 20, 1856.
Prof. 0. .T. Wood ft Co.: Gentlemen: Hav
ing my attention called a few months since to
the highly beneficial effects of your Hair Re
storative' I was induced to make application
of it upon my own hair, which bad become
quite gray, probably one-third white; my whis
kers were »! the same character. Some three
months since 1 procured a bottle of your Hair
Restorative, and used it; I soon found that it
was proving what I had wished; I used it
about twice a week. I have smee procured
another bottle, of which 1 have nsed some. I
can now certify to the world that the gray or
white hair has totally disappeared, both on
my head and face, and my hair has resumed
its natural color, and is, I believe, more soft
and glossy than it has been beforuJbr twenty-
fire years. I am now sixty years old; my good
wife, at the age of fifty-two, has used it with
the same effect. -jt.
The above notice I deem due to you foryour^
valuable discovery. I am assured that who
ever will rightly use, as per directions, will
not have occasion to contradict my statements.
I am a citizen of this city and a resident here
for the last fifteen years, and am known to
nearly ;very one here and adjoining towns.
Yours truly, A. C. RAYMOND,
Baltimore, Jan. 23, 1838.
Prof. Wood: Dear Sir: Having had the
misfortune to lose the best portion of my hair
from the effects of the yellow fever, in New
Orleans, in 1854,1 was induced to make a trial
of your preparation, and fonnd it to answer as<
the very thing needed. My hair is now thick
and glossy, and no words ean express my ob
ligations to yon in giving to the afflicted such
a treasure. FINLEY JOHNSON-
The Restorative is put up in bottles of three
sizes: large, medium and small; the small
holds half a pint, and retails for one dollar per
bottle; the medium holds at least 20 per cent
