MANY DEMOCRATS. Dee. 1, 1859. Improving. That our town is steadily improving can be seen by any one who visits the place; and if a few more of our citizens will awake from their Rip Van Winkle deep, and keep up with their more enter prising neighbors, Cassvillc will soon pre sent a different appearance from what it presented a year ago. There is no good reason why our town should not continue to improve ; the un fortunate local differences which existed among the citizens of the county for sev eral years, and threatened the destruction of our town, having been settled to the satisfaction of all parties, there is now no excuse for our citizens to be afraid to im prove their property. A tew hundred dollars spent in improving your business houses and places of residence will add considerably to the appearance of your town—try it. Don't squeeze the eagle so hard—don’t make the poor bird squall so loud. The Iron Interests of Georgia. On our first page will l>e found the report of the committee to whom was referred the proposition of Hon. Mark A. Cooper, asking aid of the State, on certain conditions therein specified. The prop osition of Maj. Cooper, so far as the security idea is concerned, is far prefer able to any other that has yet come before the Legislature or is likely to conic before it. He proposes to secure the State be yond the possibility of loss by mortgaging 10,000 acres of land, with $260,000 im provements thereon. The Legislature can not ask more than this, and we hope to see the bill pass. We invite attention to the memorial of Maj. Cooper and the report of the committee. 4 - | write anther short communication for i Tb * * ttent,on * d,,eCtcd j your paper on the subject. jto our advert, smg columns-they may ■> \ he persecutors of |««eoin. me coumy™ p.
