OBITUARY.
Mr. Thomas Espy, a native of Lincoln
county, N. C., died of congestive fever,
in Bienville Parish, La., on the 24th ult.
He had gone to that place on business,
and was ready to turn his steps homeward
when disease set in and triumphed over a
frame once of great vigor and power of
endurance. The deceased was in his 68th
year. In early life he emigrated to Mor
gan co., Ga., where he lived many years,'
and then to Cass county, Ga., and finally
to this county (Cherokee, Ala.) about 12
years ago, Mr. Espy leaves seven chil
dren, one the child of a former, and the
remainder of his present wife.
How near together arc the most impor
tant epochs in the history of mortal life-
born, married, died and forgotton. The
helplessness of infancy, the bloom of
vouth, the. vigor of manhood, the infirm
ities of age, arc all crowded into a ver\
narrow space.—Centre (A in.) Argus.

Messrs. S. W. Fowls 4 Co.:—
Gentlemen -—I first made use of the Oxyge
nated Bitters some seven or eight years since.
Having suffered for twenty years from a form
of Dispepsia, which was attended with a ner
vous headache, on an averuga of not less than
one day in a week. I was induced by the un
pretending recommendation of Dr. Green “to
try one bottle and if no benefit was received to
discontinue the use.” The use of one bottle
warranted a further trial, to the extent of some
three or four, with a careful observance of the
directions. The result was an almost entire
relief from the usual dvspeptic symptoms and
their depressing, painful consequences. I be
lieve these bitters produced an entire change
in the habits of my system and upon the active
energies of the digestive organs. I now deem
myself as exempt from dispepsia as most per
sons. These bitters have alBO been of service
to other members of ray family.
Very respectfully vours,
, ' AUGUSTUS W. SMITH.
