rendered by the supreme corn t in ref

will be seen from the decision, the
landlord, in order to have a lien upon
the crop of his tenant he must buy
I the supplies he furnishes the tenant
and have them charged to him indi
vidually, and not to his tenant and
him as security.
The following is the decission in
full:
Hrimbery vs Mansfield. Certi rari.
Landlord and tenant. Before J udge
Bower. Mitchell superior court.
Simmons. J.—A landlord has no
lien for supplies which his tenant pur
chased from a merchant and for
Mhich he stood the tenant’s secucrity;
nor will the fact that he paid the
note given for the supplies, after it
became due, entitle him to such lien.
If he orders the supplies upon his
own credit, and in that manner fur

entitled to a hen therefor.

Etitor Gazette:
I notice in the presentments of the
last grand jury that the books of the
officers of Banks county were ail cor
rect except several mistakes in the
tax receiver’s book.
How is this ? The ordinary’s book
is correct; the comptroller-general
reports his correct, and the grand
jury of last fall found nothing wrong
with the book, and I think they w ere
• intelligent men, though the book lias
been figured on a good deal since.
Somebody is wrong. If I bad made
out the book myself, with one eye
blindfolded the collector doubtless
would have understood it, and the
last grand jury would have found it
incorrect. But the book was made
out by as good scholar as the county
affords.
We have a fit subject in the office
now, if all reports be true. Some say
that he can’t weigh a wagon load of
cotton and take off the weight of the
waggon and tell the amount of cotton.
However we need not believe any
thing we hear, nor more than half we
see.
