trict. Thi9 is the only district in the
county that is under fence.
Richardscn Bros, captured every
body Saturday. They are a clever,
genteel set of fellows and are meeting
well-mensed success.
Corn is selling at 40c per bushel —
about the same price it always brings
at this season. The crop is not as
large as was at first thought,
The young people will liav,c a
candy pulling to-night at the resi
dence of Mr. W. M. Ash which prom
ises to be an enjoyable affair.
Next year will be a great year

Prof. C. A. Meek’s school at Grave
Level will open the fourth Monday
in this month. He should have a

Messrs. Charlie and Jimmie Hill,
two young men of Homer who have
just become of age, left last week for
Hot Springs, Ark., where they expect

Mr. D. J. Anderson, the hustling
agent for the Farmers Mutual l ire
Insurance Cos., has been with ns for
some time. Mr. Anderson lived here
many years ago and has many friends
who welcome him in.
A great deal of sickness lias been
reported from all over the country.
This is attributed by the knowing
ones to the long dry sped, whioh
taki ig the world over has been tbe
longest in a half century.
Mrs. Luticia Smith and her son,
Mr. Owen Smith, of near Austin.
Tex., are visiting relatives in Homer
and vicinity. Mrs. is a Smith daugh
ter of Col. Turk, who settled the
town of Homer, and she now returns
to visit the scenes of her childhood
after an absence of more than thirty
years.

Anderson, two well known young
people of Homer, were married
Thursday of last week, Justice Will
11. Turk officiating.
Mr. Hill is an industrious and pros
perous young farmer, and his bride
is the daughter of Mr. Josiab J. An
derson.
Mr. and Mrs. Hill will reside in
Homer. The Gazette with hundreds
of other friends, extends hearty con
gratulations.

Peoples Party of Hanks County.
There will be a mass meeting of
the Populists of this county at the
court house at 10 o’clock a. m. Satur
day November the 80th mst.
Delegates will he elected to to the
State Convention which meets in
Atlanta the 18th of December 1895.
Also to elect, Delegates for the 9th
congressional district.
We want every Populist in the
county to come to this meeting.
We also invite every body else who
wants an honest government to come
out and hear something that will do
them good. There will be a,,geod
speaker here for the occasion.

the 22nd August 1895, in the 912th

held on the 12th Sept. 1895. at which
election the ijuestion was submitted
to the legal voters ol said district for
fence or steeklaw as provided for in
section 1455 ot the revised codu of
1882. due notice of said election
having been published as required
by law. And whereas the returns
of said election ha ve been made to
the ordinary of said county who
after examining the same declare the
following result: Stooklaw 29 for
fence 23 and it appearing that a
majority of the votes cast in said
election was in favor of stock I aw.
