Sheriff Sumpter will sell a stock of goods at Maysville on the 12th inst. See advertisement elsewhere. Mr. Clarence Chambers, who is at tending 6chool at Carnesville, is at home on a visit. Mr. M. J. Ragsdale, of Cofteeville, Tex., recently visited relatives nnd friends in this county. The sale at Mrs. Chambers Wed nesday was well attended v.id every thing brought good prices. Tire young people arc having n good ninny sociables now and seem to be enjoying the holi day season already, Mr C. T. Furr returned to his •vime’at Holly Springs, Miss., after spending several weeks pleasandy with relatives and old acquaintances. Most any land in Banks county now brings $lO per acre at public sic This is probably accounted for in the fact that. Banks is a good Democratic county. Messrs. J A. Dendy and S E. Er win, of Richland, S. C., brother and brother-in-law of Prof. J. P. Dendy, visitei the Professor and family in Homer Wednesday. A good many people wore in town Tuesday to attend sale. The Gun- nels land brought very good prices, the total footing up something over S3OOO. The Coggins property was bid in fora small price and the Pres ley lease brought only a few doliars. Mr. Cicero Chambers will soon begin moving to bis mother's old place which he purchased some time ago. Mr. Owen Chambers purchased that part of the farm on the other side of tlia river and will live there.
