thoroughly mixed, as free kerosene is

Rapid cultivation freonently does good,
either by knocking tiff and covering up
many of the lice, or by inducing such a
vigorous growth as to hide or quickly
repair thi ir ravages. The cool nights
of May generally bring these lice, and
as a rui • they disappear before the hot
sunshino and warm night.; of June.—

During hot weather the ckmgo from
egg to fly may be completei in two
weeks. They may be kept off of cattle
>y the application of fish '-ii, to which a
little carbolic acid is added. The ap
plication should bo very light, and re
peated every four or five days. Tills
keens off -the flies, but does not kill
them. They may be killed by the use
of tobacco powder, dusted on the cattle
along the back, neck and tail, and at the
base of the horns. A g< i authority
recommends the fish oil for the be.. v,
udder and other parts of the body wilt. _
the tobacco cannot well be appli'-d, and
the powder for the other pa t- of the
animal. The larvae can be de-rroyed
l!y scattering the droppings of the cow
each morning, so that they will quickiv
dry up, prevjntiug the development of
the eggt. The same end may be at
tained by mixing piaster with the man
