measures are in the nature of prevent

In order to answer your third questiou
ss to liow the disease is communicated, i
wo must explain something of its uuturo !
and peculiar attribute'. In Ike bulletin
refci- il to it i dcllned as “a specific

cable to man. and which is dependent
upon (he introduction into tho si. m
of a etiociflc micro*orgnuiem, thebacilius

are threerecognized ways by which the
germ may penetrate iut.) the animal
body, viz: Ist, the alimentary canal;
2nd the skin; 3rd, tho lung ;; but it. is
ex qdiounl for the disease to t.n trans
mitted from u dis- ised to a healthy ani
mal.
This bacillus ant-ln-n.-is cannot live
without oxygen, vvhiSh during the ani
mal'* life i. supplied •iron ;:i the lungs

After (1 nth, if :ho info, ted animal is
at o cc burned, ami none of the exfra

be allowed t > os-npo, all n > :• y of
infection from that, animal c l-a*t is
destroyed. But if tho earcu- - is iiu'.i
latcil, or left exposed to the ravages of
carnivorous or other animals, or if the
body fluids or excromentitions matter
containing tho baccilli b. exp wed to tho
air or allowed to escape, these origanums
coming in contact with the oxygen of
the a r will form spores which are pre
served on the surface of recitation or of
the soil itself for an almost indefinite
time. Animals grazing over those con
taminated spots become iufcoto.l, and
grain er forage crops raised on such
places being infected with the spores of
the dSeaQ \vi ; produce Anthrax when
fe-.i in tile st.i••'.* to perfectly well ani
mals It is needless to say that animals
feeding on infected carcasses are in turn
infected and become the vehicles for
conveying tho disease, n. * by uct-ual

other means mentioned. iJ-side; too
tlaee mentioned other animals r.ro ii.tbio

els, cats, rabbits, ur.ee, dogs, foxes and
fowls.
T. e drinking vvat r of pastures, or
even vv- Ils, if the surface water is al

come contaminated' The disease genus
j are washed by rains into ditches, ponds,

and unaccountable outbreaks of this dis
ease. After the disease once gains a
foothold there cat be no doubt that flies
become the chief agents for spreading
it. Hence the importance of using the
fish oil emulsion. Aftor sucking the
blood of an infected animal, if they
•light on a healthy animal for a similar
purpose they convey the germs of tho
disease by diroot transmission and that
inoculate subject after subject. Wien
these flic;, containing Anthrax blood,
die, the bacilli may begin to snorulate
on tiie grouu l, and in this way also con
taminate the pastures. Certain soils are
also peculiarly fitted for the development
of Anthrax, notably snob as are rich in
organic matter of a swampy, turfy chat
after, cr whore lowlands are exposed te
submersion and become partially dry
during the hot season. The three forms
