'I he most terrible cyclone that has
yet been experienced visited and lakl

neighborhood of Griswoldvile, on Sat
urday night last. A number ot per
sons were killed and many seriously
injured ; dwellings, barns, fences, or
chards and forests wore completely
demolished. 'Hie roofs ot some dwell
ing houses were carried nearly two
miles, and some have not been found
at all. Everything in the track of the
storm is a perfect wreck. The unfor
tunate sufferers have been bereft of
everything and left in a most destitute
condition. The violence of the wind
was without a precedent iu this sec
tion.
The Georgia Legislature should
reach out a helping hand to the en
couragementof sheep husbandry by
levying a tax on the thousands of worth
less curs that infest the country and
play such havoc with this important
industry. We would be glad to see
a tax of five, or even ten dollars inipos
ed on every head of <'ogi in the land.
