Obituary.
Lawrence, the sixteen year old son
of Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Usher, was
accidentally shot by a special friend
of his, Dubignon Sasser, a little four
teen year old son of Mrs. Minnie
Sasser, with a breech loading shot
gun. They were carrying their
guns under their arms, protecting
them from a drizzling rain, and
were returning home from a hunt,
when they saw doves fly before them
and as Dubignon raised his gun the
hammer caught in his suspender,
which caused the gun to fire, the
whole load taking effeot in Law
rence’s back, who was only a few j
paces ahead.
This sad and horrible accident
took place about sun-down, and Dr.
Roach, of Woodcliff, was summoned
to his bedside, but medical aid was
all in vain, as God’s power is much
greater than ours—and He saw fit
to take Lawrence from us in this
way. He died about 3 o’clock in
the morning.
To his parents and relatives we
would say—weep not for he is not
lost, but gone to rest; live that you
all may meet him in Heaven, for he
cannot come to us, but we can go to
him. While we feel sad to lose
him, we Heaven, are happy to think that the
he is in high, rejoicing with
angels on
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our home, I
Which never can be filled. i
