The esse which attracted the most attention was the state vs. Rev. A- M, Stringer, of this place, chaiged with distutbing s< rvices. The trou ble grew out of appointments. Stringe, is a sort of a free-lor-all, gb-as-you please preacher,a kind of a congregationalist free thinker. The trouble occurred at Big Creek Methodist church. Stringer had been denied the right to preach in that church or on the church prop erty hy the trustees, but he sent an appointment to preach, and with it the message that he would fill it if he had to wade through blood up to his knees. The day arrived and Stringer appeared. The Methodist people were holding Sunday school in their building, and-hsd locked the sehoo! house, which isbuilton their propel ty against Stringer. Alter Sunday school the Methodists began R&mwgti n fri«H l fepfiif^Wml had ■ small congregation outside, said in a high tone ofvoice: "Gome op brethren and hear the true gos pel preached without money or without price. I was not born in the fl*t woods to be scared out by cats.” He then began to ting ana carried his followers, about a dozen, just fifty yards from the 'church door, and began to preach in such a tone and manner as to absolutely breakup the Methodist meeting. FUTURE TRANSPORTATION. paper Ttslns Will Be the Ultimate MbUos or the Railroad FreMsni. , While at New Holland last week we bad the pleasure Of converting with a very scientific and -leetnea gentleman, who was fulljrposted op all the new inventions oi the age.* In discussing rapid trmsit,' he said that serial navigation was impracti- cable, and he did not look in that direction for quick trztUporUtloD; but, in lest than a decade, - distance would be annibiUted at the speed oi a hundred-miles per hour, and it would be on terra firma, too. There would be paper trains, paper en- 'net and paper nils, thus greatly jhtening the weight of rolling stock ana enabling the full power of steam to be brought into play. Our Informant said thfst paper car wheels are now coming into general use, aad arena entire success. A com pany in New York is noyp experi menting with-* full train of CMM) and an engine, as also, rails, 1 made entirely of paper, and they have met with great success. Cooking stoves are being manufactured of laterial, which is a satisfactory ace that it will alio answer for a locomotive. Snch a road would be much safer than those now in use, and would have every advan tage over the present passenger lines. The only drawback we tee to this suggestion'll that science has demonstrated that .a speed a li ttle over 60 miles an hour is impractica ble and dangerous, owing to the re* siatancc of Hie atmosphere. If rap- id transit is ever solved, it will be through electricity and paenmatic tubes. Montgomery, Ala., _ Near Georgians, two white me* were watching for a negro who had offended them.
