The above named stallion, the prop

had the blue ribbon tied to his bridle
yesterday. IIo is a boautiful sorrel stal
lion, folded in 1877, and sired by Mes
senger Duroc. 1st dam, I July ltattler, by
Calvin Rattler; 2d dam by ('lying Mor
gan. bred by Baker A Harigan, of Com
stock, New York. Red Jacket entered
the ring against two of the best bred
atalliens in Georgia, and took tho prise
by his pedigree. Mr Bishop, of Morgan
county, entered a fine stallion, and Messrs
Powell A Davenport entered Navigator,
a thoroughbred Hambletonisn, but itwaa
left to Red Jacket to take the blue rib
bon. Ha is one of tho best bred stallions
in tho country, and our farmers could
not da better than to breed from such
horse. We are glad to note that the peo
ple are taking such an interest in fine
stock, and if they wilt breed from horses
that hava a pedigree they will get noth
ing but the beat. Mr. Prico has long
been a raiser of lino stock, and has spent
his time and money in getting the best
horse for the South.
ABM AND UAMMKH BRAND SODA,
One of the finest displays at the fair—
certainly one of the moat popular tables
—is that presided over by Mr G F Wat
son, Jr, with the exhibit of Church A Co,
New York. Crowds of persons are
around it all the time, and this fact is ex
plained when we notice that the “Arm
and Hammer Brand" of Hods is the at
traction. Housekeepers who understand
the art of bread risking appreciate above
everything the essential or good Baking
Buds. The favorite brand here repre
sented, is known to many of our house
keepers, and others are commencing its
use with highly aatisfsctory reauPs.
Mr Watson has on hand 10,00l> pack

going off we should judge they will be

Every visitor to the fair is requested to

pound package, with receipt books
It seems that Dr Austin Church, the
founder of the firm of Church A Co, com

years ago, and first introduced it into
family use in this country. Tho Ana

prime attractions of the fair.

A B.-W. editor yesterday undertook
the Herculean task of invading the ladies’
department and writing up the display,
but he almost gave up in despair. The
large room is literally packed with the
most beautiful goods, every article well
desorviug special mention, hut to

of Mrs. Morris wo were enabled to secure
a partial list of the exhibits. It was im-

numbers, and it wou'il be like searching
for a needle in a hay-stack to go through
the hundreds of entriei on the Secreta

quilts, counterpanes, afghans, knit work,
etc. etc., while show-cases that line the
