Savannah News According to the Advertiser and Aitead, Brunswick wants a bank, a hotel, a few more wholesale, business bouses, and more manufactories. No donbt nil tbeso things would help the city very ranch if she could get them, —Savannah Ncivs. Our esteemed cotemporary will ex case us if we take exceptions at the above clipping from its Georgia news column of Monday last. If the gen tleman who presides over that espe cial department of the News was real ly in search of valuable information, why did he wade through a whole half column of “facts and figures” touching our shipping interests and the basiuess of our port—what we •re and wbat we have to-day—to cull au idea from the very last paragraph, which, given alone, harms instead of helps ns ? Then he winds up by saying, “no doabt these things would help the city, if she could get them," tbas im plying that the probabilities are she can’t get them, etc. We looked for better treatment from the News (wbieb paper, in our judgment, stands at the head of journalism in Georgia) for she has long since lopped off loonl features and become more cosmopoli tan, so to speak. If the writer really wanted to ad vertise our wants for us, with n view to our good, why did he not give the other facts incorporated in the article in questiuu, the mention of which would tend to secure fur us the wants enumerated? Our own and our peo ple’s high regard for the News is onr excuse for thus upbraiding onr wor thy cotemporary for its seeming neg lect of this portion of its territory. Vaccination. A law passod by the Georgia Legis lature at its last session rendevs it obligatory upon Boards of Education throughout the State to require all children attending the public schools to be vacciuated, or stop their atten dance. Wo call attention to tho ad vertisement of onr Board in this issue. They have at considerable expense provided a supply of pure kiue virus, nnd contracted with Dr. R. B. Hill to operate on tbo children at low- rates, furnishing tho matter at cost.— Many peoj.l*- obji-ct to having their children vaccinated by physicians who, to save expense, take scabs from une child to inoculate others, and tlius run the risk of spreading disease in families, but we have no doubt all will he glad to have their children protected from small pox, now so prevalent, when they know that noth ing but pure vaccine matter will bo used by tbe contracting physician.— Let all pnrents attend to it at once, and get a certificate from the Doctor, as after the first of February their children will be debarred from atten dance without it. Enterprise. Our wharf owners. Messrs. Little field & Tison, show a degree of enter prise commendable in the extreme.— Besides their present spacious ware house, they are erecting two other buiidings on their wharf lots, one on tbe front next to tbe street, 56x216 feet, single story, which will be used by tbe M. & B. Railroad Company, and another, 40x50 feet, down nearer tbe wharf front, to be used by tbe firm for tbe storage of goods. We commend these gentlemen for their enterprise, and trust others will go and do likewise. Ohapteron Corns. No one would notice as little a thing as a corn if it did not make its ap pearance on tbe feet We know of about 100,000 of our acquaintances, both male and female, who have corns on one or two feet. There are about fifty onres for corns, but none that we can recommend worth trying. One of tbe best we have ever heard of it to out both feet off at the ankle and buy your provisions from Goldsmith & Co., the Boss Grocers. , It Announcements. FOB SHERIFF.
