Bead a communication from R. B.
Beppard, stating that it was almost
impossible^ at certain periods of the
year, to procure a sufficient number
of vessels to carry off the prodnots of
his mills along the lino of the B. &
A. Railroad, and that consequent
ly he was obliged to store a large
quantity of lumber in Brunswick, or
else suffer very greatly from the pay-
ment of demurrage, on aocount of the
inability of the railroad to bring hi
the lumber as rapidly os wanted when
the vessels are in port; and farther

permission to lay a track on and
along Bay street, commencing at
Prince street and running South and
midway between the line of the B. &
A. Railroad and the Eastern side of
Bay street for one-half mile or there
aboht, and to nse each side of the
said new track for the storage of his
lumber, which was received and then
referred to the'eommittee on streets,
drains and bridges.
Bead a communication from T. W.
Dexter, stating he was agent of the
owner of the Old Town water lot No.
19 and that he desired to improve the
Bnid lot by b&ildiug a wharf thereon,
and that be farther desired, for the
purpose of giviug additional facilities
for (lurrying on such business, to ob
tain permission to lay a railroad track
on to the wharf, and to use that por
tion of Bay street lying West of B. &
A. Railroad for the storage of lumber
and other commodities for shipment
over the said wharf, which was re
ceived and referred to the committee
on streets, drains and bridges.
Bead a communication from Mayor,
Glauber & Forrester, asking permis
sion to erect a platform for loading
and discharging freights from the cars
in front of the new building of D. Jas.
Dillon, on Bay street, the same to be
some sixty feet in length and of saoh
width as Council dray direct, which
was received and then referred to the
committee on streets, drains and

D. T. Dunn, President of the Park As-

was prepared to commence the im
provement of Hanover square, and

The special committee to whom was
referred the duty of reporting an or
dinance governing the issuance of li
censes for the year 1882, beg leave to
report that they have very carefully
examined and considered the entire
matter; and respectfully submit the
accompanying ordinance, and recom
mend that it be passed.

the Oily of Brunswick:
The committee on streets, drains
and bridges, to whom was referred the
application of W. R. Webster, asking
permission to erect a email building
over the drain on Mansfield at the in
tersection of Bay street, beg leave to
submit that they have carefully con
sidered the matter, and recommend
that the permission be granted to
erect the building, under the super
vision of the committee, subject to re
moval at any time Council may direct
and that he pay twenty-five dollars,
per annum, quarterly in advance, for
such permission.

of the City of Brunswick:
The committoo on harbor, to whom
was referred the communication of S.
L. Fremont, U. S. Ass’t engineer in
oharge of harbor improvements, call
ing the attention of Counoil to tbe
manner ip which earth ballast was
discharged upon tbe wharves near tbe
Custom House, oto., beg leave to re
port that they have examined the
bulkheads of Messrs. Littlefield & Ti-
son, and find them in good condition;
wud that they ufe, with a view to bet
ter seeuriug their front, now putting
oyster shells in front of the wooden
bulkheads, and thus forming, in the
opinion of the committee, a very se
cure Hnd substantial wall front.

and bridges’ committee, which was
published last week, was here read
and received.]
Au ordinance to regulato certain
kinds of business within the city of
Btnnswiok, fix the amount of tax to
bo paid for tho privilege of pursuing
saoh business, and prescribe penalties
for a violation of the same was taken
op and read the first time, then taken
np by unanimous consent, read o sec
ond time, by sections, amended and
passed.
An ordinance to prohibit persons
from spreading any seine, gill or
spread net for taking either fish or
terrapins from tbe waters embraced
within the limits of the city of Bruns
wick, and to proscribe penalties for a
violation of the same, was taken np,
read a second time, by sections, and
passed.

\ Resolved, That a memorial be drawn
np, signed by Council, urging upon
Congress tbe feasibility, importance
and ab&olutc necessity of a barge
nal across the peninsula of Florida
aud along tho Gulf passages to the
Mississippi river
Tho resolution was unanimously
adopted; and the Clerk of Council in
structed to prepare and forward cop
ies to each branch of Congress.

Coffee County Qazette: Two daily
trains pass over the B. & A. with

Mr. W. T. [Saxon, of Arlington, re
cently had his leg broken below the
knee, and, strange to say, it gave him
no pain. It was a wooden leg.
Americas wants a railroad from
that place to Isabella, on the Bruns
wick and Albany Railroad., It would
be a big thing for Americas, and we
sincerely hope it may be worked np.
A young and intoxicated German
fell asleep on tbe streets of Savannah
When taken to tho barracks be Was
found to have $1,240 on bis person,
with $75 in gold, a ring and his bnt
missing.
The French delegation who were at
the Yorktown Centennial, have re
quested Governor Colquitt to procure
for them a photograph of the Chat
ham Artillery detachment and guns
present on that occasion. The photo
graph will be taken.
A boy walked into an office on Lau
rel streot with a pocket book in his
band and inquired if Mr. Blank whs

the gentlemen. “Well, here’s a wallet
with your name in it” “Yes, I lost
it this morning.” Ho received it and
the boy started down stairs, hot was
baited by the call, “Say, boy. wbaVs
