Tbe object of his trip is tbe purchase of brick for the new store of Moore & McCrary, which ia to be erected on the tot recently purchased by them, on tbe oorner of Newcastle and Glou cester streets, opposite Heins’ confec tionery. Wo hope that this may be the beginning of a grand boom in brick buildings, which shall shortly cause onr town to assume an entirely different appearance. We honestly believe that an example in this direc tion would be of immense benefit. Our townsiunn Dr. W. B. Wo were banded this week a circu lar with the following suggestive linos in pencil, on tbe margin: "Compli ments of J. L. Brown, Agont M. k B. Division E. T. V. k G. It. It. You see we mean business now, not in tbe future.’’ The circular in question is issued by General Superintendent, John O’Brien, and ia addressed to land owners along the line. It says: “ Tho management of the East Ten nessee, Virginin nnd Georgia Railway desires to build up tbe business of tbe road, nnd realizes that increnso of population and of agricultural and manufacturing industries is the only way in which this result enn be at tained. But the railway alone enuuot do this; it must have the co-operation of the people now living along its lino. With this eud iu view, Mr. J. H. Woodard has been appointed agent of this company to carry out tbe work. All persons having property of any kind to sell cuu procure from the Station Agent on this line, or by ap plication by mail to Mr. J. H. Wood ard, 43j Broad street, Atlanta, Gm, full descriptive blanks, which can be tilled out and returned to Mr. Woon- urd. who will advertise all lands or property so reported to him, iu such localities North and East as may he deemed most likely to find purchas ers. The efforts of this company to find buyers will be made without any charge to the owners of property." It will thus be seen that the E. T. V. k G. R. R. appreciating the neces sity of having more people along its lines have struck upon a liberal poli cy—that of advertising gratuitously all lands for sale along its line. A HhiilIhoiiui Train. We allude to that on the B. & A. Railroad, composed of coach No. 5, second-class coach No. 3, and bag gage car No. 1, and drawu by eugiue “ Flint” On this train conductor Crovatt presides at the bell-rope and engineer Creamer (Pat) at theTthrot- tle. There are to-dny few better look ing trains in this section. Tbe coach is on tbe Queen Anne stylo, the bag gage car is the new one just put up at tbe railroad Rhop, nnd tbe engine is fresh from the pninter’s brush. Another Windmill. Our enterprising naval store nmu- ufacturer, J. Wilder, has purchased and put up at bis distillery, thb wind mill that was on exhibition at tbe Cotton Exposition. Parties who vis ited the Exposition have recognized the mill on sight. Mr. Wilder pro poses using it to pump water for his distillery, and also as a power for run ning a small grist mill. The machine thus utilized will, uo dout't, pay for itself in a very short while.
