One of Glynn’s fair maidens is
sighed for (and that heavily) by two
noble sons of old Liberty. O, Cupid,

wards. Before leaving he went into
tho shops nud departments of the
Macon uud Brunswick Railroad, and
bid each employe, white and block, an
affectionate good-bye, wishing them
individually every kind of prosperity.
The scene is described as an affecting
one, the boys sincerely regretting to

hearts of his employes as did Superin

WASHED ASHORE.
The lower part of a woman’s leg
and foot from the knee joint down
washed ashore this week on St* Si
mona Island beach. The flesh from
the calf of the leg was all eaten awny,
bnt the foot, inclosed in about a num
ber three gaiter, still remained intact.
Whose is this dismembered limb? is
the question for solution. Is it that
of some captain’s wife, or some pas
seuger of a lost vessel, or may it not
be that of the lady who was missing
from Dixville some months ago and
concerning whom nothing has ever
been found out. The shoe is in pos
session of Dr. Massey, who has also
buried the bones. Mr. M. would be
pleased to show them to parties who
feel any interest in helping to solve
the mystery of their ownership.
STEAMSHIP FOR TIMBER.
The British steamship Glenrath ar
rive at Back river this week and will
be loaded with timber, for the U. K.,
by Mr. R. K. Walker. The Glenrath
is of 900,000 feet capacity, and is to be
loaded by steam in six days. This is
the" first steamship that ever loaded
in (hese waters with timber. We hope
it Will not be the last, but that this
will be only the forerunner of scores
of-ptbers;which shall come, not only
for timber, hot, also, for cotton, naval
stores, grain, etc.
Jimmie, child of John R. Adams, a
bright little boy of eighteen months,
walked through a bed of hot embers
last Monday, severely burning his
feet. The sole of one has sloughed
off, leaving a very ugly ulcer.
