THEY HOGGED mn. Two (sprightly and boautifnl young Indies were visiting tlieir cousin, an other sprightly and beautiful young lady, who, like her guests, was of that happy age that turns everything into fnn and merriment. They were fond of practical jokes, and were constant ly playing all sorts of pranks with each other. All three occupied a room on tho ground lloor, and cud dled up together in bed. Two of the yonng ladies attended a party, and did not get home until 11 .-30 o’clock at night. As it was late, they concluded not to disturb tho household, so they quietly stepped in to their room through the low, open window. In about half an hour after they had left for the party, a young Meth odist minister called at the house where they were staying and craved a night’s lodging, which, of course, was granted. As ministers always have the best of everything, the old lady put him to sleep in the best room, and the yoong lady (Fannie) who had not goue to the party, was in (rusted with the duty of sitting up for tho absentees, and of informing tlu-m of tlie change of rooms. She took up her post in the parlor, and, ns tiie uight was sultry, she departed on au excursion to tho land of dreams, We will now return to the youug ladies who hail gone to their through the window. By the dim light of the moonbeams, os they strng gled through, the curtains, the young ladies were enabled to descry the out lines of Fannie (as they supposed) ensconced in the middle of the bed. T'iey saw more—to-wit: a pair of bools. The truth flashed upon them at once. Faunie had set tuein iu the room to give them a good scare. They put their heads together and determined to turn the tables ou her. Silently they disrobed and, stealthy as cats, they took np their positions on either side of the bod. At a given signal they both jnmped into the bed, one on either side of the unconscious parson, laughing and screaming, “Ob, wbat a naan! Oh, what a mao" They gave the poor, bewildered minister such promiscuous hugging aud tussling few parsons nro able to brag of in course of a lifetime. The noise of the proceedings awoke the old lady, who was Bleeping in an adjoining room. SUo comprehended the situation iu a iuom6nt, nnd rush iug to the room, she oponed tho door and oxclaimod: “Gracious, girls, it is a man 1 It is a man, sure enough 1” There was oue prolonged, consoli dated scream—a flash of mnslin through the door—and all was over. flie best of the joke is that the min ister took the whole thing iu earnest. Ho would listen to no apologies the old lady could make for the girls. He would hear uo excuse, but solinemnly folded bis official robes about him aud silently glided away.
