The night train will leave Brunswick at 8:30 r. m., aud arrive iu Brunswick at 5:35 a. m., making conniptions with tho night trains on tho Savannah und Jackson ville line. Our Northern mails will, therefore, reach us in the morning in stead of at 6 p. m., as now. This will throw us just twelve hours farther away from New York. Now that the new line to Atlanta is finished, we bad hoped to have more accommoda tions instead ol less. We presume, however, these will come u little later in the season, in time, at least, for the winter travel. It is what is known as a “trust lot,” and is 90x180 feet, running lengthwise with Newcastle street. These gentleman have about secured the remainiug parts of tbe lot, or block rather, and we may soon expect to see commenced a building that will be an ornament indeed. The walls and partitions are to be of solid brick masonry, tbe front of iron, and the roof either of tin or iron. The lower floor of the bnilding will be fitted up for stores, tbe post office and a bank. The upper floor will be used for furuiture warerooms, offices, etc. Messrs. Kaiser Bros, will occupy the southern end of the build ing, the lower rooms being occupied Senatorial Convention. This body attempted to meet the 6th inst., as per published uotice but from some cause Charlton’s de! t ! gates failed to reach the point de.sio natod—Owen’s Ferry, on the Satilfo so the delegates from Glynn and Cam den consulted together, and di-ter. rained to make another eftort—espe cially so, as Cbarltou, according to the rotation system, has the honor of miming the inau. A meriting, there fore, has been culled for to-day at Folkston, on the VVavcross & j‘ ac fc. sonville Railroad. From what we can learn, Charlton seems to have no n s . pirauts for the ’ place, whatever (strange condition of things, iso’; it?) so the the nomination must ther be forced upon some one or else take a man from the more patriotic; ; sections—Glynn, for instance. \y e have got lots of Sbnatorial timber- enough to build a whole Senate, as stores—dry goods and groceries— i umns and all, und some of it, at leas. uml the upper rooms, one as u ware, room and the other for their furni ture, carpet and matting department. Dart is the chosen | standard-bearer of the Democracy, and the ex-Hon. James Blue of tbe Republicans of Glynn county, the lat ter having been nominated last Sat-1 urday. Well, we remember when We wert | a boy standing up before the school aud declaiming thusly: “Besides, sir, the battle is not to the strong alone, ] but to the vigilant, the active, tbe brave.” This sentiment we must in scribe upon the banners of the De mocracy.
